t'goosh!

ang blog ni m's

part of our assignment is to do a self portrait and i was assigned to use back lighting. and since it is a portrait, it should tell something about the person in the photo, the likeness, personality, even the mood of the person.

this is my first attempt of self portraiture, never really liking being in front of the camera thinking, "i'm a photographer, i should be at the back of the camera taking the shot" ek. but then this is a nice exercise, and restricting ourselves not posing as a photographer in the portrait, as it was too easy according to our teacher.

at first, i thought of having my guitar as the symbol and a piano at the background, but then i'd have to bring home my gear which is in the office that time. so i thought of something i wouldn't normally do, and given my limited resources. and i came up with this:

i initially wanted to do it on a rooftop with katips' lights as my background but it was raining to i had to do it by the stairs which worked very well in this shot. it was hard to take a self portrait since you have to prefocus (which i didn't do well in this shot) and you get different poses every time you go to the camera and back to the frame. also, the supposedly back light became somewhat a side light. i guess i would have to practice more, doing self portraits every month, as suggested by out teacher.

kewl. yay. :)
